Meet New Member Elizabeth Leon

Elizabeth became a member of the Lodge in October of 2009, but the Elks bloodline runs deep in her family. Her father John Leon is a 25 year member of The Lodge, her grandfather was PER Rich Miller, and her grandmother is Betty Miller, a lifetime member, so she knows about our Lodge as a 3rd generation member. The Absecon resident is only 26; she really is a “Baby Elk.”
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE ELKS?
“I got interested in joining after seeing my Dad, who is a member of the Communications Committee and Public Relations Coordinator, become involved. My grandparents used to bring me to Elks functions when I was little so it was a natural decision.”
ARE THERE CERTAIN INTERESTS YOU WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN?
“I volunteered in December for the Special Kids Christmas Party and loved it! I like kids anyway so it was a good fit for me. I want to get involved in Camp Moore as well. Next year I’m going to try and make time for the Army/Navy game with the veterans if I can.”
WHAT HAVE YOUR EXPERIENCES BEEN SO FAR?
“Everyone really made me feel welcome at the Christmas Party and I felt at home. I spend a lot of time in Brigantine during the summer so I’ll be here a little more.”
